지나친 풍경 風景
이번 <지나친 풍경 風景>는 지난 1년간 본인이 경험하고 지나쳐온 풍경들의 찰나를 표현한 전시이다. 여기서 풍경風景이란 한자 뜻풀이 그대로 ‘바람의 장면’이라 해석할 수 있는데, ‘風景’ 즉, 자연의 한순간을 그린 것이라 생각하면 되겠다. 하지만 이는 서양의 풍경(landscape)과는 다른 의미이다. 서양의 풍경이 객관화된 어떤 형상을 똑같이 표현하려 노력하였다면, 고대 동아시아 예술가들은 보이는 그대로를 똑같이 재현하기보다 보이지 않는 어떤 것을 형상화하기 위해 노력하였다. 다시 말하면, 동양의 예술가들은 자신의 내적 감정, 즉 작가를 둘러싼 그 순간의 기분, 또는 공기와 분위기를 체화한 후 풍경을 빌려 나타내려 노력한 것이다. 본인은 전통 재료인 지필묵을 사용하여 과거 동아시아 예술가들과 마찬가지로 현시대의 풍경을 체화해 보이지 않는 본인의 심상으로 나타내고 있다.
