《이승종 인탈리오 판화전: 자본의 표면과 존재의 심연》
Lee Seung Jong Intaglio Print Exhibition: The Surface of Capital and the Abyss of Existence
본 전시는 현대 사회에서 돈이 갖는 가치와 실재에 대한 질문을 담고 있다. 판화는 원본이 복수로 제작되는 복제 형식을 띤다. 이는 실물 화폐(원본) 없이 디지털 데이터(복사본)만으로 거래가 이루어지는 현대 금융 시스템과 놀랍도록 닮아 있다. 사회이론가 장 보드리야르는 이러한 현상을 ‘시뮬라크르(Simulacra)’, 즉 원본 없는 복제의 시대라고 정의한다. 이러한 인식 아래 본인은 오목판(Intaglio) 판화 연작을 통해 1달러에서 100달러까지의 미국 지폐를 해체하고 재구성한다. 찢기고, 구겨지고, 파쇄된 지폐의 형상은 돈이 상징하는 가치와 권력이 무너지는 순간을 시각화한다. 또한 지폐 속 인물들의 초상에 붙인 ‘고뇌(Agony)’라는 제목은 자본 시스템 속에서 인간이 겪는 근본적인 갈등을 은유한다.
우리가 매일 마주하는 시스템의 겉모습, 즉 ‘자본의 표면’ 아래에는 어떤 진정한 실체가 있을까. 이 파편화된 이미지들은 관람객에게 ‘존재의 심연’을 향한 질문을 던지며, 눈에 보이는 가치 너머의 실재를 탐색하는 작가의 사유 과정을 공유한다.
