구름은 지구, 행성 또는 위성의 대기에 떠다니는 작은 물방울이나 얼음 알갱이들의 집합체이다. 구름은 액체, 고체, 기체의 특성을 가지고 있으며, 모이고 흩어지며 움직이고 반사하는 등 다양한 형태와 상태로 변화한다. 우리는 아래에서 휘발된 작은 물방울들이 모인 모습을 바라보면서 개인적인 연상과 투사를 통해 여러 가지 상상을 하게 된다. 이번 전시에서는 작가가 일기처럼 그려 모아온 구름 형태의 드로잉들을 선보인다.
'대상성'과 '상징성'을 배제하려는 의도로서 회화의 순수성은 선과 색, 빛과 그림자, 시간과 공간 같은 가장 근본적이고 자연적인 요소만을 남긴다. 최소한의 요소들로 최소한의 절제된 표현은 색 자체가 독립적으로 존재하게 하거나 색과 공간성 또는 색과 시간성을 연관시켜 한 화면에 둠으로써 자연적으로 발생되는 시간성, 빛과 그림자 같은 비물질적 재료들은 작품의 일부가 되며 그 자체로서 생명력을 지닌다.
각각의 작품들은 분리되어 어떠한 공간에서나 공간의 일부처럼 계속적으로 변형된 설치 형태를 가져올 수 있고 또한 연속된 작품 형태거나 단독의 작품 형태가 될 수 있음을 또한 의미한다. 그리고 작품 자체에서 보이는 이차원인 듯 입체인 높이의 차이는 평면성을 탈피하여 공간성을 획득하고 시각이 먼저인지 지각이 먼저인지 의문의 여지 또한 획득하며 공간의 일부 같은, 공간의 일부로서의 의도를 내포한다. 결국 작품이 어느 공간에서나 변형된 형태로서 자율성을 가진다는 것은 작품 자체의 독립된 유일무이성과는 반대개념을 가지며 최소한의 절제된 표현으로서의 가시화는 surface(표면, 외면)의 최소화된 표현으로 비가시적 세계, 즉, The other side(이면, 내면)으로의 가능성에의 확장을 열어 놓는다.
